To support the defence of any allegations, professionals must document all key aspects of their business and its relationships.

Five musts do´s:

1. Agree with the client, record the precise scope of the retainer and limit      liability where possible.

2. Make comprehensive notes of workings, site visits, meetings and/or          client instructions.

The market for Professional Indemnity Insurance is currently going through a “soft cycle”. This means that terms are, in the main, relatively easy to achieve and are therefore normally obtained at favourable rates. But like many economic factors, it is just part of a normal cycle - at some point underwriters will take a firmer view, less insurers will offer terms and premiums will increase.
